Burgers are great aren’t they. You can’t really go wrong if you know where to get your hands on a brilliant burger. I first visited a Byron Burger restaurant nearly a year ago and was amazed I hadn’t been before. Since then I have been back and this week I went along to the branch at The Corn Exchange.
I love The Corn Exchange as a venue. It is a really nice and open space with that perfect relaxed atmosphere for a meal after work, mid shopping trip lunch or weekend evening meal. Byron fits in perfectly here and there is seating both outside the restaurant looking into the central hub of The Corn Exchange and inside the restaurant so you get an all over Byron experience. There are lots of comfy booths to sit at which I always love to see. Booths give you and your company a bit of space to yourself so you also feel nice and intimate.
The menu has lots of options on it with beef, chicken and vegetarian burgers. You can also mix up and match the different burgers to your heart’s content. I hadn’t realised this before and think this is a great USP for the restaurant. If you fancy the B-Rex burger but with a grilled chicken breast this is totally fine. In fact I went for the Smoky burger with chicken and it was delicious!
The ‘Cluckosaurus Rex’ is the newest addition to the menu. This combination of meat and toppings was the one chosen most by the staff and consequently this burger masterpiece was deemed necessary for the menu!
I also love that there is a ‘skinny’ option. You can swap the burger bun for a side salad and this comes at no extra cost. Perfect for January if you’re trying to cut down on your bread intake. (Although the bread it really lovely and squishy so I would definitely recommend keeping the bun).
Make sure when you order that you get yourself some fries or sides. The burgers don’t come with them so you do need to get these separately. There are some great options though including Courgette Fries. This much healthier twist on fries is such a good idea! If like me you fill up quickly, these are much less filling than your standard fries whilst tasting so good. We tried a side of the Macaroni cheese on our visit and Oh My Goodness. Yes this carby pasta in a creamy, cheesy sauce was very very good. The dish combines two types of cheese giving it a really tasty, heavenly flavour.
Byron Burger also boasts a fantastic milkshake selection. Not only just as drinks but their new Freakshakes are classed as desserts. We tried an Oreo Milkshake which was so thick and ice-cream like. It was delicious. The Freakshakes are piled high with so many indulgent toppings including Brownie, caramel sauce and crushed honeycomb. They really are rightly classed as Desserts! Next time I’ll hold back on sides and starters to save room for one of these!
All in all Byron Burger is a great place to visit if you are craving a good ole burger cooked up to perfection and embellished just as you wish. There are so many options to pick and choose from. If you have any questions the staff are so helpful and eager to offer advice so do just ask. So next time you’re in The Corn Exchange do drop by. You won’t regret it!
