After winning an eighth of a cow in a work raffle (long story) it meant that I have had to start thinking of different ways that I can cook with beef considering that I have a freezer full of it! I never really used to buy beef so I wasn’t really sure where to start but I have really enjoyed making a few chillis and lasagnes. I recently tried to make my own homemade burgers and they were so much easier than I imagined they would be. Instead of eating them the normal way, with a bread bun and fries, I decided to try something a little lighter. Combining the homemade burgers with a selection of grilled veg and some Essential Cuisine gravy, they turned out to be so delicious but also so simple to put together.
To make the homemade burgers, I simply combined the beef mince with some red onions, garlic, mustard and egg. I then rolled the mixture up into burger shapes before leaving them in the fridge for half an hour so that they set in their shapes. I then popped them under the grill until they seemed done – so quick and easy! I tossed some veg in a baking tray alongside some rosemary, garlic and salt to season then grilled those too.
Essential Cuisine make the most delicious stocks and gravy and so I used the savoury gravy mix and this was so perfect and full of flavour to go alongside the burgers and veg. I image this going so so well with sausage and mash too so this is definitely next on my list.
Essential Cuisine also make stocks and glazes for cooking with and as with something like this where taste is of upmost importance these stocks tick all the boxes. There is something about a good stock that can totally transform a meal from standard to one of the yummiest things you’ve ever had! I will definitely be using the stocks to create a beef stew with some of my collection.
I haven’t actually tried the glazes but I imagine that the duck glaze would be so tasty… definitely next on my list!
