So today’s post is all about skincare. Up until the last month I had really good skin. I was very lucky to only really suffer from the occasional spot. For some reason though, a few weeks ago my skin decided to go really dry. I’m talking EXTREME dry skin situation here. I felt like I was shedding!! As you can imagine, I was caught quite unaware and I had to change my daily skin care regime to try and tackle the problem.
I didn’t really know what to do so headed to The Body Shop, one of my favourite skin care shops, to see if they had any tips. I absolutely love their Vitamin E range so was quite excited when they recommended some products from this collection. The face wash and (AMAZING) illuminating moisturiser both featured in my November favourites.
The lovely people at The Body Shop recommended that I try out the Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream and the Vitamin E Overnight Serum. I used them both that very evening!
Firstly lets talk about the Moisturiser. Just from the texture you can tell this is going to be good. It is so thick and although it does feel a little heavy when first applied, it quickly sinks into your skin. I have been using this both morning and evening for the past few weeks when my skin feels particularly dry and it definitely has helped. My only criticism is that when my skin went through a little patch of being really sensitive, this made it burn a little. When I don’t have this issue it is great though.
Secondly, the over-night serum. This is a absolutely amazing! BUT… use sparingly. Let me explain. I used this the first night I bought it and I woke up feeling totally amazed with the product. For the first time in about a week I woke up with beautifully, soft skin. The uncomfortable, cracked and dry feeling had disappeared and I was one happy girl. I was aware though that the product is oil based so I skipped using it the next night, continuing again the evening after. I continued using it every other night. On the fourth evening of use, my skin was feeling a lot better and I didn’t really need to use it. I shouldn’t have as I woke up with a very oily T-zone and had a little breakout of blackheads. Obviously it works in tackling dry skin but because it is so oily, it can do the complete opposite.
When you have VERY dry skin, this product is a life saver and I love it. Save it merely for these occasions and you’re on to a winner. Just don’t make the same mistake as me and end up with too much oil on your skin!
Conclusion: These products are great for extreme dry skin days and I couldn’t recommend them more in these situations. For me though, they are pretty heavy and not suitable for daily use. I am glad I have them to turn to in emergency dry skin situations. For regular use, I will stick to the illuminating moisturiser. I cannot get over how much I love this, it is SO radiant and makes my skin look so glowing.
Have you used these products? Do you have any other recommendations for dry skin?
