An evening at Angelica

Hi everyone!

Last night, I was lucky enough to visit Angelica in Leeds to try out their food and wine. If you are looking for a sophisticated and classy evening with an impressive view then this really is your ideal venue. Positioned at the top of Leeds Trinity, the restaurant looks out over the city and the beautiful dome ceiling of the shopping centre. The huge glass windows reflect all of the outside lights and colours. This combined with the candle lit tables and the sparkling wine glasses provides an extremely luxurious setting for an evening you definitely will not forget.

The centre piece of the room is this incredible circular bar. Complete with every drink you can imagine and adorned with glasses, this feature is very aesthetically pleasing. The stylish decor really does create an incredible atmosphere. Full of ambience and class, the mood for the evening is set from the moment you enter the restaurant. The only negative I can think of is that the dim lighting proved quite a test to my low light photography skills!

Whilst we soaked in the menu, the wine arrived. I am always guilty of taking too many photos of wine but I think  the sparkling glasses and the beautiful lights create the perfect opportunity for some great shots!

Contrary to normal, I had no difficulty in choosing my main as sea bream, one of my favourite dishes, was on the menu! Nevertheless, the other options sounded incredible. From salmon linguini to rump steak there was a great selection to chose from.

The food arrived and definitely did not disappoint! My fish was delicious. Cooked to perfection and combined with a handful of vegetables and cauliflower puree – so tasty!

After our main course we chose to look at the dessert menu… Angelica has one of the best selection of puddings I have ever seen!! This decision was much more difficult and in the end we decided to get one of each between us and share them all!

1. Triple chocolate brownie, popcorn ice-cream and salted caramel sauce – isn’t that just one of the most indulgent and heavenly sounding chocolate treats that you have ever heard?! It was exactly that. Although it was quite rich, I don’t know if I would have been able to manage a full one on my own! (Excuse the poor quality photo).

2. Seaside doughnuts, vanilla sugar, chocolate sauce, whipped cream… wow! First of all what an incredible description and the presentation of the dish (see pic below) was even better! This was pure sugary, chocolatey, doughnutty bliss.

3. Vanilla and Elderflower cheesecake with ice cream, almonds and raspberry gel – Nothing beats a classic cheesecake. This was absolutely delicious. The combination of the different flavours was incredible and the almonds really complimented the overall texture of the dish.

After indulging in these delicious desserts it was time to bring the evening to an end. I can honestly say that I had such an enjoyable time here at Angelica and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The food, the service and the atmosphere was perfect. One of my favourite things was the incredible view of the domed ceiling of the trinity shopping centre that you can see in the photos below. The lights and the glow felt really festive and it was the perfect way to spend my first evening of December.

I hope you’re all enjoying December! Has anyone ever been to Angelica before?

Track of the day: Parra for Cuva feat. Anna Naklab – Something Near (This song is incredible, I would really recommend it if you want something chilled and relaxing, dreamy and  Anna has such a beautiful voice).

Lots of love,

The food sounds to die for too! I’ll definitely be recommending to my husband that we go here!
