Today was spent exploring the picturesque spa town of Harrogate, just a 30 minute train journey away from Leeds and a great place to go if you’re looking for a nice day out.
It was the perfect opportunity to capture the last of the Autumn colours. Whilst many of the leaves were dead and already fallen, scattered amongst the naked and tired looking branches remained a few lucky trees whom still held onto the gorgeous oranges and reds of Autumn. It was lovely to make the most of the remaining vibrant colours whilst emerging myself in the transition between the seasons.
It was quite a foggy day which gave the park an eerie atmosphere, casting it in a mysterious mist. It was quite empty and haunting but the photo below shows how the odd blasts of bright orange inject a little bit of life into the setting. The mist really was quite unsettling though. The place felt almost abandoned to the transition of nature, as though she had been left alone to wipe out the colour from the park.
Small burst of brightness really stood out amongst the weary and wintery colours surrounding them.
How beautiful are the colours of this leaf?! So so vibrant against its setting.
I think the photo below really captures an attempt to cling onto the last little bits of colour. This lone leaf sought my attention, an attempt to remain true to Autumn whilst the nothingness of winter and death take its toll on the park.
After strolling round the park, I made my way to Filmore & Union, a gorgeous little cafe in the centre of the town.
They had such a gorgeous selection of cakes on display!
I sat down with my notebook did a bit of writing whilst I waited for my hot chocolate and banana loaf to arrive.
I was very happy when it came! The cake came with a lovely little pot of clotted cream, so indulgent and delicious! It was the perfect saturday treat and I definitely want to re visit the cafe. I think there is one in Leeds so I will have to track it down.
After my tea break, I explored the town a little more and did a bit of shopping. Here is a photo of the gorgeous view that I was treated to on my train journey back to Leeds.
Finally, to finish off here are some more Autumnal photos from Hyde Park in Leeds. The leaves were just to gorgeous to ignore!
I hope you enjoy the last of the Autumn colours as much as I did!
Lots of love,
