Chocolate and Nail Varnish – what more could a girl want

I love Easter. Who doesn’t love Easter?! If there’s chocolate involved I’m happy.

Yet this year, one of this things that really caught my eye is just how beautiful mini eggs are. Yes they taste divine but they are also so pleasing to look at. The colours reflect some of my favourite pastel shades and they almost look like something nature has produced: perfectly shaped pebbles on a beach; something found in the nest of an eastern bluebird (They lay the most beautiful eggs, you should definitely have a google). Once removed from their packaging they don’t scream commercial chocolate and there is no sign that they were ever mass produced in a factory setting. They are like little pearls. I cannot get enough of the little sprinkling of speckles on each and every egg either. So clean cut and beautiful!

The colours reminded me not only of one of my favourite nail varnish at the moment, L’oreal Colour Riche in 104 Beige Countess, but also the shades that are on my wish list at the moment.

  1. 851 Les Blancs Nouvelle Vague from the L’oreal Colour Riche range
  2. Porchester Square Gel effect polish by Nails inc.
  3. Parka Perfecy by Essie (Ballet Slippers in also gorgeous)
  4. 403 Palais Royal by Dior (I wish!)

I was inspired to take some photos, displaying both the beauty of the Beige Countess L’oreal nail varnish and the little chocolate eggs. Here are a few of my favourite shots 🙂

I thought I’d also attach some photos of our family easter cake, it is a tradition that we make this every year. Seeing as we decorate it with mini eggs, I thought these photos were appropriate!

What colours and shades are you loving this easter? Do you have any special Easter traditions? I hope everyone is having a great day!

Happy Easter

What a lovely series. I partook of one of my favorite traditions that I’ve neglected for years…dying eggs. I picked the tie dye kit and the colors are fabulous. Rich, vibrant colors rather than the soft pastels of Easter. So much fun. It took me right back to being a kid. 🙂

Thankyou. That sounds so good! I used to colour eggs in as a child but I haven’t done that since. I would love to try dying them though, it sounds like a lot of fun and I love anything with lots of colour! We wrap eggs in flowers and then onions and then wrap them in newspaper, soak them in water whilst they boil for 25mins and the result is beautiful! They turn a rich brown colour and the imprints of the flowers are stained on the shell. It is gorgeous! x

Those eggs sound beautiful. I’ve never heard of that technique before. I’ll have to go google it.

Even though I had no plans for Easter other than a quiet dinner with Husband, I decided to get into the spirit of Spring and Easter by painting my toenails and fingernails a soft lavender. Though Hubby never noticed it made me feel a little better. I have never tried a L’oreal product — mainly because my nail shop only offers one brand of gel nails. I think I will look into purchasing a L’oreal product the colors look very vibrant and rich.

Ooh that sounds gorgeous, I love lavender shades! Yeah you definitely should, I really like all L’oreal nail varnishes!

I love mini-eggs (oh, ok…any kind of chocolate will do) and nail polish! You’ve combined two of my favourite things into one post.

Have you tried any of the pastel polishes available now that give your nails the speckled egg look?

    • 21st April 2014 / 10:44 pm

      Haha, me too!
No I haven’t yet but I really want to! They look amazing. I really want to try some of the Models Own range, they are so beautiful! Have you tried them?

      • 21st April 2014 / 10:48 pm

No, I haven’t, but I want to! They look so pretty. I’ve seen a few swatches of the Models Own polishes, but I don’t know if they’re sold here in Canada.
